OVERVIEW

The final report on this reference is expected to be released in early February 2000.

he Australian Law Reform Commission's Review of the adversarial system of litigation is looking at the methods of dispute resolution and adjudication used in federal courts, including the Family Court. The reference commenced in late 1995 and was due to conclude in 1999. The inquiry includes factors such as methods of accessing the court, the role of judges, the role of lawyers (including legal ethics), alternate dispute resolution, case management and the like. Information about the timing of the reference is available on the ALRC web site.
